A fast-growing business support network has appointed a Westcott-based company director to its board.

Andreas Hohmann, managing director of high-tech engineering firm Total Carbide, has taken the role of non-executive director at Buckinghamshire Business First (BBF).

The appointment was registered with Companies House in September on the day of the first face to face board meeting and the Buckinghamshire Business Leaders’ dinner at Horwood House.

Andreas said: “It is an honour to be involved with so many highly successful Buckinghamshire businesses and to be able to help entrepreneurs looking to build successful companies.

“My aim is to represent businesses from Westcott Venture Park, Silverstone Technology Park and North Buckinghamshire in general and areas of engineering including aerospace, performance engineering and manufacturing at the board of Buckinghamshire Business First and to promote apprenticeships and education in these sectors."

Andreas is also a Buckinghamshire Business First ambassador, a role which sees him help promote business in the county and offer advice and encouragement to those looking to succeed and grow in the same way as Total Carbide.

As part of the Versarien Plc Group, Total Carbide is one of the European leaders in the design and manufacture of tungsten carbide wear parts used in a range of applications from hospital equipment to parts for space rockets.

Total Carbide was also voted Company of the Year at the 2021 Buckinghamshire Business Awards organised by BBF.

BBF is a business-led, business-focused community for new, established and growing businesses across Buckinghamshire offering members knowledge, support and opportunities for growth through its knowledge, connections, facilities, products and services.

Since being started in 2011 by 10 local entrepreneurs and business leaders, it now has more than 13,000 members – a figure that is growing rapidly.
